One of my absolute favorite events each year is "Fishing with the Pastor"

Our Pastor rounds up several men...and women from our church and we take the kids out for an afternoon of fishing. The men provide all of the fishing rods (one per child), bait, etc. so this is an extremely easy event to pull off. There should be plenty of members who have rods that they will loan them to the men. Many of the children will have their own...and that's ok too.

Each year, our group of volunteers grows and the children absolutely LOVES spending time with them...and receiving special attention.

The entire evening is planned by the Pastor and his volunteers so I have an evening of fun with the children...without any work. 

The Pastor's wife even grills the hot dogs and brings along a picnic meal for everyone.

The kids enjoy learning how to fish, receive a short devotional from the Pastor and have a picnic meal...the makings of a perfect afternoon.

If you want to do something meaningful with your kiddo's, and get the adults involved in your ministry, consider hosting a Fishing with the Pastor event. If the Pastor is not a fisherman, put out the word. I am sure that there are fishermen in your group that would love to host an event with the children.
