Discouragement- The Devil's Tool Box

It was advertised that the Devil was going to put his tools up for sale.

On the date of the sale, the tools were placed for public inspection, each being marked with its sale price.

They were a treacherous lot of implements: Hatred, Envy, Jealousy, Deceit, Lying, Pride, and so on comprised the lot.

Laid apart from the rest was a harmless-looking tool, well worn and priced ridiculously high.

"What is the name of that tool?" asked one of the purchasers, pointing to it.

"That is Discouragement", tersely replied the Devil.

"Why is it priced so high?"

"Because it is more useful to me than the others. I can pry open and get inside a man's heart with that when I cannot get near him with other tools. Once I get inside, I can make him do what I choose.

It is badly worn because I use it on almost everyone since few people know it belongs to me."

During these cold, slower winter months (for many of us) discouragement can sneak in and take over quickly!

Don't allow Satan to steal your joy!

Go for a quick walk in the cold air, position your chair near a window so you can absorb all that beautiful sunlight (when it shines), and knock off some of those indoor "to-do" tasks that have been waiting until you have time.

Keep your mind busy...but remember to take time for yourself as well. Winter is a season of rest for most of God's creation...and you, dear one, are one of those creations.

Pamper yourself with some of your favorites. Coffee, books, lotions, hot bubble baths...whatever you enjoy...do it!

Lifting each of you in prayer this morning. Be encouraged...we serve a mighty God!

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
