It's OK to Take a Break!

If you are like me, you find it hard to take a break!

There are always so many things to accomplish, so many who depend on you, so much that you place upon your plate.

If you're not "doing," then you have feelings of guilt, boredom, or worthlessness. You may even feel that you are letting others down.

A few years ago, I was so busy "doing" that I was near the "burnout" point. It was clear that I needed to stop...but quite frankly, I didn't know how.

God had not given me a clear exit plan, so I just kept on doing what God had called me to do.

I had been so work-oriented for so long that I had lost my ability to STOP and do something enjoyable, restful, and restorative.

Because I never took a break...I was getting to the point of burnout.

God did not create our bodies to keep up with this type of pressure.

There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God;

For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. Hebrews 4: 9-11

Rest is important for our health...and our spiritual walk with the Lord.

Rest allows our mind, body, and soul to renew and start with even more strength and focus.

There are times in our lives when we choose to be busy...there are also times in our lives when life simply takes over, and we rush from task to task trying to fulfill all of our obligations and the expectations of others.

I'm here to tell you that it is okay to take a break. When life gets too busy, choose what is important at that moment and learn to let everything else slide.

In a culture so focused on productivity and getting ahead, it is often hard to relax and recharge. Many of us may think that if we take a break, we are being idle, lazy, or self-indulgent.

But what will the consequences be to you and those you love if you keep pushing without adequate rest?

Learn to stop and rest. And while you're at it...learn to ask for help when the load gets too heavy!

Have a blessed day!

I've been praying for each of you this morning!

Sneak off for a few minutes today and have some "Me" time!
