Tears

Have you ever sat in church singing, praying, or simply listening, and the tears flow?

That's me...I am a crier!

I always thought the cause of my tears was that God drew near, that God was in the room, that God was speaking to me, that I was feeling His presence...and then...the tears would flow.

But then I thought..."WAIT...God is ALWAYS near." It is I who strays. It is I who breaks fellowship. It is I who fails to show up! It is I who fails to draw near to Him.

When I show up...when I draw near to Him...when I seek His presence...that's when the tears begin to flow!

It's like building a fire to keep warm, but standing 20' away. The fire is burning, it is producing heat and a beautiful light...but until I draw near to the fire, I won't feel the sweet, sweet comforts it provides!

May we each draw near to God today...and every day! May we enjoy His presence...His awesome glory...and His amazing fellowship.

...And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
