Lessons

After teaching for many years, I have accumulated a TON of teaching notes/guides/lessons.

Due to the vast amount of materials, I have decided to slowly share them with you before disposing of them.

Please note that many of these guides were written many, many, many years ago...and were written as a tool for me to use while teaching.

These materials are not polished, they are not professional, they are not like any of the wonderful curricula that you find online today.

You may fine spelling errors, grammatical errors, comments to self, etc...I am sure you will get a laugh or two. :)

Use this information as a guide but please feel free to make any corrections, additions, or changes that you feel necessary.

Please be kind and remember to cross-reference with your Bible before teaching ANY curriculum...  mine or any other. Never teach anything

that you yourself have not researched.

I hope you find some nuggets of helpful information!

Lessons, Games, Activities

Add some acts of service such as chores around the church that needs to be done, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, etc to drive home your lessons.

Have each child bring an old T-Shirt and add a handprint each week as you cover each topic.
You can add the wording before class or bring several black sharpies and have the children add their own wording before pressing on their handprint.

Use fabric paint to press your handprints onto each shirt.
Remember to have each child write their name on the collar of their shirt before they start working on it.

NOTE: I have included several lessons guides that I wrote many, many, many years ago. Due to the HUGE number of lessons that I have taught, I just don't have the time to make corrections, changes, spelling or grammar corrections, etc.
Use the information as a guide but please feel free to make any corrections, additions or changes that you feel fit.
When I pull out a guide to teach, I ALWAYS make corrections or changes...please do the same.

Remember to cross reference your Bible before teaching ANY curriculum...mine or any other.

Finding Happiness

Finding Happiness Balloon Object Lesson

Inflate a bunch of balloons (all the same color) and toss them into a hallway. (How many? Approximately 3 times the number of students you have...or more.)

Hand out one balloon to each child...use the same color as above.

Ask each child to inflate their balloon and write their name on it. (Have them use a pen or light color marker...not a black sharpie...that would be too easy to read from a distance).

Add the children’s balloons to the ones that are in the hallway.

Gently walk through the balloons to mix them up.

Explain to the children that they will have 5 minutes (shorter if you have a smaller group or fewer balloons) to find the balloon with their name on it.

Children are not to help each other (no handing balloons out to one another or calling out to their friends)

Despite the hectic search, no one...or very few will find their balloon.

At the end of the 5 minutes, tell the children that “These balloons are like happiness.

We will never find it if everyone is looking on their own.

But if we care about other people’s happiness...we’ll find ours too.

At this point give the children another 5 minutes to find their balloons.

This time, tell your children to take the first balloon that they find and hand it to the person whose name is written on it.

Within 5 minutes everyone should have their balloon.

BONUS: TAKE ALL THE BALLOONS AND STUFF THEM INTO THE PASTOR’S OFFICE. TYPE UP A SIGN AND ATTACH IT TO HIS DOOR. “JUST POPPING IN TO SAY...WE LOVE YOU!” THE CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT. ATTACH A LARGE PIN TO THE SIGN FOR THE PASTOR TO USE WHEN POPPING ALL THE BALLOONS. SEE PASTOR APPRECIATION EVENT UNDER THE "FREEBIES" TAB
