Serve God...not man

“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord, rather than for men.”

I wrote this scripture in the front of my Bible many years ago. It is a constant reminder for me...it is my motivation...it is my driving force.

It reminds me to give and do my very best.

It reminds me that it doesn't matter what others may think...as long as I am pleasing God. It reminds me that my value is not determined by man. It motivates and encourages me to keep going...even when I am tired...or alone...or discouraged. It reminds me that serving the Lord...is not a job...it is an opportunity...it's something that I GET to do. It brings pleasure and joy and excitement. It's not a 40 hour week...it's a 24/7 opportunity. When our goal is to serve man...to please man...to be rewarded by man...to get our self worth by man's approval...we will always be disappointed. When we seek to serve our Lord however, the rewards are endless...and we won't even see all of them until we reach heaven. I am sure that you have heard the saying "Dance like no one is watching." My motto is "Serve like no one is watching." Go, do, serve...and be assured that God IS watching. He knows how hard you work, He knows how many hours you serve, He knows when you are the only one at the church...late into the night, He knows how you give up your weekends to plan and prepare for worship, events or activities, He knows that you are tired, He know all the effort that you put forth, He knows that you give up family time to serve, He knows that you are sometimes frustrated, He knows that sometimes you feel like giving up, He knows that these times that we are experiencing are hard, He knows, He sees...He hears....and He is crazy about you! When you are serving...always remember WHO you are serving...it lightens the load, brings joy to your heart and a spring in your step! Live your life to please God and not to please man! Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it...Autograph your work with excellence! Reminder, it's Saturday (I think...I am so confused with dates lately :) )...take some time for yourself! Praying for you this morning. Have an AMAZING and ENJOYABLE day!!!
